Individuals detained by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) in Congressman George Latimer’s district are sent to Delaney Hall in Newark, N.J., a detention facility managed by the GEO Group under a 15-year contract with ICE valued at $1 billion, according to a February 2025 press release posted on the company’s website.
Delaney Hall was used as an immigrant detention center from 2011–17 during President Obama’s administration, before reopening in May 2025 under President Trump. In May 2026, there was a month-long hunger and labor strike by detained individuals protesting the facility’s conditions.
