First Lady elects Hastings author to collaborate on picture book

In the new book “Willow the White House Cat,” Hastings resident Alyssa Satin Capucilli and First Lady Jill Biden offer readers a cat's-eye view of the national landmark the president and his wife call home.

Capucilli, who has lived in Hastings for over 30 years, is the author of more than 100 children’s books — including the Katy Duck series and the Biscuit series, which have sold over 52 million copies. “Willow the White House Cat” is Biden’s fourth children’s book and a New York Times bestseller. 

Capucilli recalled how Biden reached out to her in the summer of 2022.
