tarry verb \ˈter-ē
1. To delay or be slow in going, coming or doing something.
2. To stay or remain somewhere longer than expected.

That’s how Merriam-Webster defines “tarry.” For the nearly 12,000 people who call Tarrytown home, it’s also part of their village’s name — and the name of a literary magazine inviting readers to take their time to appreciate the stories, people, and places that make this area special.

(Note for trivia enthusiasts: Tarrytown takes its name from the Dutch word “tarwe,” meaning “wheat.”)

The magazine’s second annual edition was released last month, following the success of its 2025 debut. The new issue features the contributions of 10 poets, four fiction writers, four essayists, and nine visual artists. Many are local, though some come from farther afield and, judging by their keen observations, seem to know the region well.
