An American Girl doll may be a common holiday gift, but what makes it special is how it’s customized — skin tone, hair and eye color, outfits, and even hobbies can reflect the child who receives one. This level of thought and personalization moved Erika Von Stiening Bresler when she realized the doll was being purchased for a girl living in a Yonkers shelter — by an Ardsley resident the recipient would never meet.
