Panthers aim to repeat as sectional champions

Rivertowns football teams have been busy preparing for the 2025 season with the campaign opening this weekend. Ardsley will try to defend its Section 1 Class B crown, while annual contender Dobbs Ferry is looking to build on a runner-up finish in Class C. Irvington — which has a new coach in James Madison — and Hastings will meet in their season opener on Sept. 5 as both teams look to get their respective programs headed in the right direction.

Ardsley finished the regular season just 3-4 last year, receiving the No. 6 seed in the Class B sectionals. The Panthers went on a miraculous playoff run, defeating Pearl River 14-13 in the quarterfinals, Bronxville 14-12 in the semifinals, and Pleasantville 28-14 in the final. They also avenged regular-season losses to each team.
