British Major John André probably never imagined that, nearly 250 years after his capture in Tarrytown, he would rise from a coffin as a larger-than-life skeleton in a Halloween parade.André was captured in 1780 carrying documents connected to Benedict Arnold’s plot to surrender West Point to the British. He was later tried and hanged as a spy.
