During a work session on Feb. 11, the Greenburgh Town Board heard an updated proposal to develop 1 Lawrence Street, the 10.75-acre parcel between the Saw Mill River Parkway and Saw Mill River Road (Route 9A), into a facility for scaffolding storage and rental truck parking.
The vacant property, which is within unincorporated Greenburgh and the Ardsley School District, was formerly the site of an AkzoNobel chemical manufacturing plant. As a result of that usage, it was designated a brownfield because of contamination. In June 2024, after a cleanup effort, the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) declared the site up to nonresidential reuse standard.
