Rising Dobbs Ferry High School junior Dominick Stern is directing two performances of the coming-of-age musical “Spring Awakening” in Armonk this weekend that will benefit the National LGBT Cancer Network.
Stern founded his Pond Players theater company a year ago, when it debuted with a production of “Next to Normal” that raised roughly $8,000 for the organization (also known as The Cancer Network), a Rhode Island-based nonprofit that advocates for LGBTQIA+ cancer patients and survivors in the healthcare system, research, and media, and trains healthcare providers to offer what the Network’s website describes as more “culturally competent” care to members of the queer community.
