The two candidates in Irvington’s mayoral race are calling for an end to election sign and poster stealing after more than a dozen of them were reported missing last month. Both Deputy Mayor Arlene Burgos, the Democratic candidate, and Bob Grados, a registered Democrat running on an independent line, state their signs were stolen from private and public property.

The first incident reported to police happened on Sept. 16 when a home security camera recorded a Meadowbrook Road resident confronting a man before he drove off with two Grados signs from her lawn. The man told the homeowner he was working with Grados’ campaign. Police identified him as a 61-year-old former Irvington resident who now lives in Yonkers.
