Volunteers of the Month: LoRusso and Cortese add comfort to foster care

For Emma LoRusso of Yonkers and Matthew Cortese of Irvington, volunteering at Abbott House is a family affair. That’s because LoRusso, a 15-year-old sophomore at the Ursuline School, and Cortese, a 17-year-old junior at Irvington High School, are cousins. Recently, they teamed up to create 100 comfort packages for children, teens, and young adults entering foster care at Abbott House, where Filomena LoRusso, Emma’s mother (and Matthew’s aunt), is director of Community Support Services.
