New shop seeks to put more on the table

G.E. Brown settles into spot on Saw Mill River Road

James and Jennifer Vellano of Bedford hope to expand the offerings in Ardsley, and enhance the vibe, with their eclectic coffee shop G.E. Brown, which opened three months ago at 716 Saw Mill River Road, site of the former Booskerdoo.

The Vellanos worked in high-end restaurants and met in 2005, when both were hired at Thomas Keller’s acclaimed Per Se, at 10 Columbus Circle in Manhattan. Within a couple years, James joined Keller’s Bouchon Bakery in the city, while Jennifer became a private chef and catered in Greenwich, Connecticut, and throughout Westchester. The couple moved to Greenwich in 2010, where they created a catering business called Maison Privé Chefs Catering.
