Rivertowns Rotary celebrates a century of service

For 100 years, the Rivertowns Rotary Club has been at the heart of community life, from launching Little League baseball to stocking local food pantries. To celebrate that legacy, and honor nine longtime Rotarians whose decades of dedication embody the motto “service above self,” members of the club and neighbors gathered at the Dobbs Ferry Historical Society on Sept. 20.

Founded in 1925, with Hastings resident John Zinsser — namesake of Zinsser Park — as its first president, the Rivertowns Rotary was among the area’s earliest civic organizations. It’s part of Rotary International, a nonpartisan, nonpolitical, nonreligious network of 1.5 million members worldwide that supports global humanitarian efforts and local service projects.
