The sound of jackhammering on Warburton Avenue this week signaled the start of a new round of sidewalk construction projects that will continue on Broadway (Route 9) and on Rosedale Avenue, and which could include a shared use path on Ravensdale Road if a grant is secured. The Warburton, Rosedale, and Broadway projects are funded by grants and by money from the Village of Hastings.
Warburton Avenue: The next phase of sidewalk replacements for the business district started July 10. The new section of sidewalk will be along the west side of Warburton Avenue, between Spring Street and Villard Avenue.
The new sidewalk will mimic those installed in 2022 on parts of Warburton and Main Street. Existing trees will be replaced. The 11 new trees will be a mix of native species. The new tree pits will be larger than the existing pits and will be covered with metal grates and then hexagonal pavers that will allow water to seep through.
