Route 9 redesign receives $25M from federal government
The DOT’s rendering of the roundabout proposed for Ashford Avenue in Dobbs Ferry.

The New York State Department of Transportation’s (DOT) plan to reconfigure Route 9 (Broadway) from Tompkins Avenue in Hastings to Pierson Avenue in Sleepy Hollow will receive $25 million from the federal government, according to an announcement by U.S. Sens. Chuck Schumer and Kirsten Gillibrand on July 1.

Those funds will be used for a 1.5-mile stretch in Tarrytown and Sleepy Hollow, as stated in a press release from Schumer. The release adds that four signalized intersections will be reconstructed as roundabouts, two new traffic signals will be installed, a 0.75-mile shared-use path will be built, and sidewalks, crosswalks, and bus stops will be improved.
