Irvington residents will use the power of music to support wildfire victims in Los Angeles through two upcoming concerts. Evil Eckar will cover the music of the Red Chili Peppers for a fundraiser at Carmine’s in Elmsford this Saturday, Feb. 1, while the Irvington Theater will host Killer Mixtape, Divining Rod, The Skam, and Bent Branches next Saturday, Feb. 8.
For the past decade, Evil Eckar has been one of the cover bands that perform outdoors during Irvington’s popular Halloween series, sometimes referred to as “Porchella.” The six-piece band is made up mostly of residents who live on Eckar Street, plus one Ardsley resident who is a friend of Adam Stein, the group’s bassist and singer.
Every year during Halloween, Evil Eckar pays tribute to a different act by performing covers of that band or artist. Three years ago they began adding a second show, in the winter, at Carmine’s, a deli in Elmsford. After covering the music of the Chili Peppers in October, the group deemed it appropriate to turn their winter concert into a fundraiser.
